Participatory research is an approach that calls for a democratic interaction between the researcher and those among whom the research is conducted. The application of these methods may be seen in case studies of participatory research projects throughout the world. (Included in this volume are case studies illustrating the application of participatory research and development techniques such as group discussions, public meetings, research teams, open-ended surveys, community seminars, fact-finding teams, the collective production of audiovisual materials, popular theater, and educational camps.)
