India[x]s urban population has grown from 286 million in 2001 to 377 million in 2011, constituting 31.16 per cent of the country[x]s population. It is expected that India will have 41 per cent of its total population living in cities and towns by 2030. Slum population too has increased from 52.37 million in 2001 to 65 49 million in 2011 (Sharma and Rajput, 2017).
