India is one of the countries that has adopted the 'Health for all' target for the year 2000. Maharashtra hopes to achieve this by 1991. The central and state Governments are working towards these targets, but recognise that their unaided effort is insufficient, so they want the active participation of voluntary agencies in their health and family welfare programmes.
