<br/><br/> This is a report of the Second National Workshop on the “Elimination of Child Labour” held at NIRD on February 12-16, 1996. The report talks about poverty being the main cause of child labour, the objectives of the national workshop and the role of rural workers organizations and NIRD in this respect. It highlights the nature and dimensions of the problem of child labour in Asia and more particularly in India. It presents the role of trade unions and NGOs in eradication of the problem, highlights socio-economic perspectives on child labour and provides strategies and plan of action for its elimination.
